Buried Treasure

Today is the 15th of May. To me, this matters for no other reason than it is the birthday of my first high school boyfriend. Some things you want to forget are bound to you by reminders, like today's date, or the single gray hair I am compelled to pluck. Some reminders are like oxygen and are purposely displayed, like the bound collection of Wilde-isms on my closet shelf. Some are unpredictable, like the smell as a smoker passes you on the street, or the tune playing as you wait for the elevator. I think the hardest part of life is losing someone who reminds you of yourself, in that your joy is also theirs. When those who feel you are gone, and all that's left are reminders. How do you carry on?

  2. as it has been said many times over... life is a journey, an adventure. That time and events are a small scripture in what life 's journey hold before us.
